Always Check the Status of the ChildCare Centers License
In Wisconsin you must contact the specific licensing office for each center. The state does not yet have this information listed on the web. This link will take you to the State of Wisconsin's contact list. Email the specific office of the center you are interested in and they will give you the up-to-date inspection reports.****UPDATE***** April, 2008 the state has recently made license reports available online. You must use their newly updated 'Search for Licensed Care' Feature of their Web site. (looks like they liked our idea). The search functions and information available to you are better on this site so I recommend finding the centers you are interested in here, then go to the State's web page enter the center name and their results page will show you the inspection reports. State of WI Licensed ChildCare Search
Unlicensed Centers will not have reports available. We recommend that you request at least 4 references for any center you are interested in, and check the references!!!
You can also check the Wisconsin Circuit Court System to look up the record of individuals. Go to
http://www.wcca.wicourts.gov/index.xsl this site requires that you know the full name and birthday of the individual. Any person you are considering to care for your child should be willing to give you this information.
Use the Wisconsin State Journal Database of "Fined Child Care Providers" 1998-2007 http://www.madison.com/wsj/media/childcare/index.html
